Compliance Posture
GreenRank Pro operates inside one of the most-regulated marketing verticals in the US. CBD, hemp, cannabis, vape and snus are subject to federal and state laws that change frequently. This page documents the public-facing compliance posture we hold ourselves to and require from clients.
FDA — Food and Drug Administration
The FDA has not approved CBD or hemp-derived cannabinoids as dietary supplements or food additives (as of May 2026). We do not make medical claims on behalf of clients. We require client product pages to display an FDA-equivalent disclaimer where applicable: "Statements regarding these products have not been evaluated by the FDA. These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease."
FDA warning letters are a leading indicator of policy enforcement. We monitor the FDA Inspections Database and warning-letter feed monthly and adjust client content when enforcement patterns shift.
Google Ads policy
Google Ads broadly disallows CBD and cannabis. We do not run paid Google Ads campaigns for clients in these verticals. We do not deploy gray-hat workarounds (cloaking, fake-product landing pages, certified-advertiser fraud). The few legitimate Google Ads pathways for CBD topical products require independent FDA documentation we are not in the chain of; we refer specialist paid agencies for clients who pursue this channel.
Meta and other paid networks
We do not run paid Meta (Facebook/Instagram), TikTok, Pinterest or X campaigns for cannabis or ingestible CBD. Topical CBD on Meta is technically allowed in the US under age-gated targeting; we will advise but do not run those campaigns directly.
FTC — Federal Trade Commission
The FTC enforces against false advertising in CBD and hemp markets. We require client content to be substantiated: studies cited must be real and accurately summarized; outcome claims must be qualified and evidence-backed; testimonials cannot be incentivised; before/after comparisons must follow FTC Endorsement Guides.
State cannabis control boards
For dispensary clients, we follow per-state cannabis control board rules including license-number display, age-gate enforcement, advertising restrictions on social media, and on-page warning text. We maintain a per-state compliance template that updates with regulator changes (typically quarterly).
PACT Act (vape clients)
The PACT Act regulates vape and tobacco shipping. Our scope is on-site SEO copy, schema, state-availability mapping and age-gate; ATF registration, state tax stamps and shipping carriers are the client's responsibility (we refer compliance counsel for those layers).
2018 Farm Bill
Hemp and hemp-derived cannabinoids (CBD, CBG, CBN, CBC, hemp-derived delta-8/delta-9/HHC) are federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill if the product contains ≤0.3% delta-9 THC by dry weight. State laws diverge — see our blog post "CBD State Restrictions Map" for the current map. The 2024–2026 Farm Bill renewal may modify these rules; we track quarterly.
Brands we will not work with
- Brands selling unverified products to minors.
- Brands running review-incentivisation flows that violate platform spam policies.
- Brands requesting gray-hat link-building (PBN, link farms, comment spam).
- Brands making medical claims unsupported by clinical evidence.
- Brands operating in states where their products are not legally permitted.
What clients are responsible for
The brand is responsible for: product compliance and labelling; FDA registration where applicable; age-verification at checkout (we deploy the on-site infrastructure but the client owns compliance); state tax stamps; shipping carrier compliance; product liability and insurance; legal counsel on regulatory questions.
What we are responsible for
SEO and AEO scope: site architecture, schema, on-page content, link-building strategy, AI-search optimisation, GBP management, technical SEO, content production. We deliver compliance-aware site infrastructure; the client's compliance counsel approves before publish on regulated copy.
Honest disclosure
We are an SEO and marketing agency. We are not lawyers. Nothing on this site is legal advice. For legal advice on CBD, cannabis, vape or snus regulatory compliance, retain qualified counsel — we maintain referrals.
